Introduction
The temperature of South Pole ice has been measured with dedicated thermistors installed along some of the instrumentation cables in both the AMANDA and in the IceCube experiment. For details regarding the AMANDA measurements, please see PNAS June 11, 2002 99 (12) 7844-7847; https://doi.org/10.1073/pnas.082238999.
Similar instrumentation was installed along a few of the IceCube strings and was read out in three different years (2007, 2009, 2010).

Data files
This data release contains temperature data measured by AMANDA and by IceCube. The data provided consists in the following four files:
amanda_temp.txt:
first column: temperature measured by the thermistor (in degrees Celsius)
second column: best estimate of the depth of the thermistor (in meters)
icecube_temp.YYYY.txt:
first column: temperature measured by the thermistor (in degrees Celsius)
second column: best estimate of the nearest DOM’s depth (in meters)
YYYY in the file name indicates the year when the thermistors were readout.
The content of both formats is detailed in the enclosed amanda_temp.README.txt and icecube_temp.README.txt. The data is stored in plain text, space separated. An image showing data is also included. Uncertainty on the depth is 2m and uncertainty on the temperature is 0.1C.
The data are final.
