Week 12 at the Pole

Sunset behind the IceCube Laboratory.

Last week at the Pole, they had mixed weather for viewing the sunset. The week started out cloudy but cleared up in time for some nice photos when the sun was on the horizon. But clear skies didn’t last long, so they weren’t able to see the sun as it actually disappeared from view. That’s just the way it goes (but sometimes the stars align to capture a special moment). The weather didn’t affect indoor celebrating, though, where the station held their traditional sunset dinner. And even though the sun is now gone from view, it’s light will linger a while longer. Sunset is a slow process at the Pole.
