Last week at the Pole, IceCube’s new winterovers had occasion to visit the IceCube Lab, a short trek from the main station. That’s Kalvin testing out a pair of cross country skis while he was there. It was a busy week, though, with multiple outings to take snow depth measurements and extend stakes where needed. They made their rounds in a PistenBully, a snow vehicle used at the Pole, having trained on the vehicle earlier in the week. Last week also saw a few more arrivals, including some distinguished visitors who were there for a brief visit, which gave team members from all the supported polar experiments a chance to give short presentations on their work. Finally, it was Thanksgiving, traditionally celebrated at the Pole with a nice sit-down dinner for the station.
