False alarm from week 32—aurora viewing remained in full force last week at the Pole. In fact, the skies were graced with some purple auroras, pretty rare in general, even at the bottom of the world. Nearly all the station personnel were out photographing the excitement in the skies, knowing that the sun’s arrival is not far off. IceCube winterover Raffaela was among them and photographed herself, at bottom, just “chillin’ at the geographic South Pole.”
