The temperatures have been dropping, into the –50s °C, while the sun continues to get lower in the sky. These overcast photos give a sense of the impending darkness. Flag lines were set up on the Dark Sector road, above, and on a spur out to the ICL, below, as part of winter safety measures. Winter vehicles are positioned at the ready in areas outside the station, while wheeled vehicles that will not be used in winter are set up on blocks. The snow will eventually drift in—come summer, workers will need to dig out holes around the wheel wells in order to get the wheels and tires back on so that the vehicles can be driven off their blocks.
