What if you were trapped inside a D-Egg, with a group of people smiling at you from the outside? Although we can’t say what that might feel like, we can say what it would look like. The image above was captured from an actual D-Egg for the IceCube Upgrade—it’s just not one that was deployed in the ice. Last week at the Pole saw the initial departures of Upgrade personnel. Those remaining worked on winterizing the drill camp, seen below with new Upgrade flags in the foreground, and getting everything inside the IceCube Lab set up nicely for winter as well. The station had a special visitor, US Senator Tammy Baldwin, who posed for a group photo with some of the Upgrade team. Skies were clear and sunny last week, showing off nice views of the station and some rather large ice blocks.
