Although the station is officially closed, there were still some “visitors” last week. A few aircraft—two Baslers and one Twin Otter—stopped at the South Pole for refueling. The plane above is a Basler BT-67, flying for the Australian Antarctic Program, and in the distance you can see the IceCube Lab. Also last week, IceCube winterover John organized a lecture on particle physics for the other winterovers, which was well attended. And IceCube winterover Yuya got in some outdoor photography, capturing nice shots of the planes as well as one of the various South Pole telescopes under a low sun, in the second to last image.
