Week 34 at the Pole

Despite the encroaching twilight, the photo above of a Scott tent near the South Pole marker also captured some faint auroras. Auroras have been caught in many shapes and forms, conjuring up cinnamon rolls and question marks, but in this case, it’s a grumpy face. At least, once it has been suggested, it’s difficult not to see it. The stars are still out at the Pole, but the sun is on its way, so we may not see many more of the fantastic aurora shots from there for a while. The pool tournament was also in full swing last week. IceCube winterover Mack made it into the semifinal round before being beaten by maintenance specialist Josh, ultimate winner who is shown in two images below, deciding a break and focusing on an almost final shot.
