IceCube’s winterovers were kept busy last week with ongoing Upgrade freeze-in activities as well as some other general IceCube maintenance tasks. Now that the winter season at the South Pole has begun, however, things are shifting gears. There was plenty of “winterizing” activity going on, including organizing cargo in the cold storage area and cleaning and checking over the vehicles in the maintenance facility. The greenhouse got some attention and repairs, too—tomato plants have started to sprout their first flowers. Since the gym had been set up theater style for the traditional viewing of the The Thing at station close, the seating configuration was left in place for several more days to enjoy other movies and TV shows in a cozy environment.
