Wash, rinse, and repeat. You have two seasons at the Pole, summer and winter. Summer is long gone and now it’s not only winter but midwinter, which means the station has been closed for a while now and they’ve reached their halfway mark. But as the second half of winter unfolds, there will still be plenty of mesmerizing auroras in the dark skies before the summer light returns. In the meantime, midwinter itself is cause for celebration. The station exchanged midwinter greeting cards with the other Antarctic stations, enjoyed their traditional dinner, and held a masquerade party afterward! Below, the IceCube Lab looks peaceful under cloudy skies, with a bit of pink backlighting.
