Marcos Santander

I am currently a graduate student at the Wisconsin IceCube Particle Astrophysics Center of the University of Wisconsin-Madison working on the study of high-energy cosmic rays using the IceCube, IceTop, and AMANDA detectors at the South Pole.

My work is focused on the study of the anisotropy of TeV and PeV cosmic rays in the southern sky, trying to characterize its evolution as a function of angular scale, chemical composition, energy, and time. These studies provide information about the properties of the galactic environment through which cosmic rays propagate, and may hint at possible cosmic ray sources responsible for the anisotropy.

I am also working on the search for galactic PeV gamma rays using the IceTop air shower array in combination with IceCube to reject cosmic ray shower events.
