dCORSIKA v6.7

I have ported Dima Chirkin's dCORSIKA [berkeley.edu] AMANDA-specific changes to the CORSIKA [fzk.de] v6.6 and v6.7 distributions. Other than internal changes to the code structure in v6.5, the main changes are the addition of the QGSJET-II and EPOS high-energy interaction models, and a major bug fix in the SIBYLL lateral distributions affecting v6.3 and higher. Other minor bugs in DPMJET and SIBYLL affecting heavy primaries have also been fixed.

If you're generating AMANDA Monte Carlo, you can likely just use the prebuilt binaries that come with the simuperl package and don't need to download the above files. See this page for installation and use instructions for simuperl.

Updated 1 September 2008: The coordinate change in CURVED event header transverse momentum implemented in CORSIKA v6735 breaks horizontal showers: the muons are many kilometers away from the center of the shower and miss the detector. We are not sure yet if this is an inconsistency in CORSIKA or not, but I am reverting this bit of code and calling the version v6735a.

Updated 30 July 2008: Updated to CORSIKA v6735. Fixes definition of ARRANG; fixes STACKIN with maximum weight; small fixes for UPWARD and CURVED modes; fix for cross-sections for light fragments in FLUKA.

Updated 26 March 2008: Updated to CORSIKA v6720. Fixes critical bug in Sibyll (immediate crash) and a rare crash in EPOS.

Updated 18 December 2007: Updated to CORSIKA v6710. According to the authors, this includes bug fixes (mostly to UPWARD showers), generation counter changes, and an updated link to COAST, whatever that is.

Updated 9 July 2007: Updated to CORSIKA v6616 (minor fixes from v6600). Also added Dima's changes to support NKG parameters in the F2K file.

Updated 2 May 2007: Updated to CORSIKA v6600, which adds the EPOS hadronic model (successor to neXus). Other changes include altitude-dependent muon energy losses in air and improved treatment of SLANT / CURVED / UPWARD options.

Updated 17 January 2007: Updated to CORSIKA v6502, which includes support for FLUKA 2006 along with a few other minor changes. Also merged in Dima's patches for nonzero magnetic declination (add "MFDECL -27.05" to your steering file for AMANDA/IceCube, or just update simuperl) and for penetrating track azimuth (affects muon bundle width).

Updated 6 July 2006: The bug fixes described below have been officially released in CORSIKA v6501.

Updated 19 June 2006: Fixed bugs in DPMJET (accidental charm production) and SIBYLL (FP exceptions in fragmentation code) — am calling this version 6500b. An official CORSIKA release is forthcoming.

Updated 13 June 2006: Integrated CORSIKA fix for SIBYLL interaction model lateral distributions (6.500 to 6.500a). The SIBYLL model is still, however, not apparently working (crashes with floating-point exceptions).

Updated 1 June 2006: Fixed bug in primary particle indexing causing no particle output.
