
The finale this week at the South Pole Station was the Thanksgiving Dinner. Finely prepared appetizers, festive live music, beverages, and cheerful conversation, was shared with friends and co-Polies in the BioMed Hallway. Dinner was served in Dining Facility in three shifts to accommodate the Station population, beginning at 4:00 PM.
To date, the South Pole Station remains ahead of the flight plan. We have had 94 sorties to date, compared to a plan of 79.
Weather conditions and temperature continually improve. The shuttle bus service has begun which provides added mobility to for the Drill Team crossing the SkiWay and less demand on the two IceCube snowmobiles. General transportation vehicles have been added to the fleet, such as the Piston Bullies and Truck.
The IceCube population remains at 38, within the current total South Pole Station population of 245. The current IceCube population level is slightly behind the season schedule as the passenger flight on Friday was canceled.
Most of the surface cable and hose has been routed between the Mobile Drilling Structure units. The surface hose and cable have been laid to the Tower Operations Site at hole number 29. Power and heat has been supplied to the Tower Operations Workshop for DOM testing.
